A low-calorie snack brand has recalled one of its widely sold products after a packaging error led to an undeclared allergen.

Halo Foods is recalling its Skinny Crunch Light Peanut Butter Bars because the contents were incorrectly packed in wrappers labelled as Skinny Whip Toffee bars, which do not declare peanuts as an ingredient.

The company said the outer packaging of the multipack correctly displays ‘Skinny Crunch Light Peanut Butter Bars’, but the individual bar wrappers are incorrectly labelled as Skinny Whip Toffee.

As a result, the product contains peanuts, making it a possible health risk for anyone with a peanut allergy.

The affected products were supplied to selected Sainsbury’s stores in England and Wales, and selected Asda stores in England and Scotland.

The recall applies to 5 x 20g packs of the product with batch code 6238 (08:30-10:30), product code 6238 (08:30-10:30), and a best-before date of August 2027.

In its customer notice, the Welsh firm said: “We apologise for any inconvenience caused and are taking this matter seriously, please note that no other Skinny products are affected by this action.”

Customers who have purchased the affected product should not consume it and should instead return it to the store where it was bought for a full refund.
