The supermarket chain is recalling its Waitrose Rhubarb Crumble after discovering the product contains oats (gluten) that are not declared on the label.
The recall covers all 500g packs of the product with a use-by date of 19 August 2026.
Although the use-by date passed several weeks ago, the Rhubarb Crumble includes home-freezing instructions advising consumers to eat the product within one month of freezing.
This product contains gluten, making it a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to oats or gluten, or for people with coeliac disease.
In its customer notice, a Waitrose spokesperson said: “We are sorry that it has been necessary to recall this product and for the inconvenience caused.”
Customers who have an allergy or intolerance to oats or gluten, or who have coeliac disease, should not consume the product and should instead return it to the store where it was purchased for a full refund.
