A German confectionery brand has recalled some of its snacks from UK shelves because of undeclared allergens.

Lambertz is recalling its Mini Spekulatius biscuits and Christmas Tree Cookies because they contain allergens that are not declared in English on the label.

The recall covers all 150g packs of Mini Spekulatius with a best-before date of 30 August 2027, as well as all 160g packs of Christmas Tree Cookies with a best-before date of 17 May 2027. The affected products were sold in Home Bargains stores.

The products contain barley and wheat (gluten), hazelnuts (nuts), milk, lactose and whey (milk), and lecithin (soya). They may also contain egg, lupin, other nuts, peanuts and sesame.

As a result, the products pose a possible health risk to anyone with an allergy or intolerance to barley or wheat containing gluten, those with coeliac disease, or consumers with allergies or intolerances to egg, milk or milk constituents, lupin, peanuts, nuts, sesame and/or soya.

In a customer notice issued by Home Bargains, a spokesperson for the retailer asked customers to check the back of the affected items, as only those with no English labelling are affected.

If an item does not contain English labelling, customers should return it to their nearest Home Bargains store for a full refund.

The spokesperson added: “We are sorry for any inconvenience caused.”
