2 Sisters, Morrisons and apprentices make week’s headlines

2 Sisters Food Group’s decision to snap up S&A Foods’s former site in Derby and reports of Morrisons’ potential exit from the FTSE 100 leads our selection of the top headlines in food and drink manufacturing.

The prospect of Morrisons falling off the FTSE 100 due to its share value dropping to 151.40p could lead the retailer to sell its manufacturing assets as a result of its demise, one City analyst claimed.

2 Sisters Food Group signalled good news for food manufacturing jobs in the midlands when it announced it was trying to acquire S&A Foods’ former site in Derby.

Apprentices

There was more good news for jobs as the Food and Drink Federation unveiled plans to treble apprentices in the food and drink manufacturing sector by 2020.

There was less good news for Princes after it was fined £13,000 after a worker suffered chemical burns at its Bradford site.
