Glanbia boosts lactoferrin production
Glanbia Nutritionals will step up its lactoferrin production capabilities for its Bioferrin brand of bovine lactoferrin after a large investment, it has announced.
The company is one of the world’s leading purified lactoferrin producers and made the investment following an increase in market demand, it claims.
Lactoferrin is an iron-binding glycoprotein that’s naturally present in cow’s milk and human milk and is used to boost biological processing. Meanwhile, clinical research has shown it also has anti-oxidant properties, as well as anti-inflammatory, gut and bone health properties.
For the past 10 years, lactoferrin use has risen and is now used in mainstream food and drink.
