Barnes takes full leadership of Aldi
There was also movement among the boards of the discounters as Matthew Barnes was handed sole control of Aldi.
Barnes, who for the past four years has been joint md of Aldi in the UK and Ireland alongside Roman Heini, will become ceo in April.
Heini will leave his position to take up the role of chairman of the advisory board for Aldi South, which is based in Germany.
Barnes will be supported by two new joint mds for the group.
