Sodexo removes colours linked to hyperactivity

Sodexo is the latest UK caterer to remove the six food colours associated with hyperactivity in young children from the food it supplies to schools.

Sodexo's All Club Joules Menus, aimed at children aged from four to 11, have been added to the Food Standards Agency’s list of 23 restaurants and caterers that have already removed the colours.

Six colours: Sunset Yellow FCF (E110), Quinoline Yellow (E104), Carmoisine (E122), Allura Red (E129), Tartrazine (E102) and Ponceau 4R (E124), were found by a Southampton University study in 2007 to be linked to hyperactivity in children.
