Like many other talented workers in the food industry, The Fresh Olive Company’s Amy Watson came to her role “accidentally”.
Watson, who was recently promoted to assistant operations manager at the firm, worked for the small company while she was studying at college.
“I found it interesting, it’s a great place to work and we’re a small company so I know a lot about most parts of the business, which would be hard to do in a big company,” she said.
Her current ambition is to be promoted to operations manager, and hopes being a finalist for the Young Talent of the Year Award will help in her pursuit.
It was initially a shock when Watson found out she had been shortlisted for the award, but it was also a “huge honour”, she said.
“I think there needs to be more awards like this because there’s a lot of very good young talent out there, but it’s hard to be recognised,” Watson added.
