Dairy Crest recalls Weight Watchers cream
High levels of the bacterium known as Bacillus cereus in Dairy Crest’s Weight Watchers West Country Thick Cream – reduced fat forced the dairy firm to recall the product.
The affected products were the 200g sized packs with ‘use by’ dates of August 13 and 14 2014.
Bacillus cereus cause food poisoning and means the product is a possible health risk to consumers.
Dairy Crest said it carried out a full risk assessment and spoke to the Food Standards Agency to ensure all requirements were followed.
“Dairy Crest operates to the highest standards and takes food safety and quality very seriously, we apologise for any inconvenience,” it added.
