Fine Seafood Company’s dates not so fine
The Fine Seafood Company recalled all date codes of its Smoked Salmon 100g due to the presence of high levels of Listeria monocytogenes, in August.
Listeria monocytogenes is a bacterium that can cause food poisoning in certain groups of people, such as pregnant women, unborn and newborn babies, and anyone with reduced immunity, particularly the over-60s.
It was also forced to recall Plain and Peppered Smoked Mackerel 240g and 150g because these products had incorrect use-by dates.
The Hampshire-based firm apologised to customers on behalf of its supplier.
Point-of-sale notices were displayed in stores explaining the actions consumers can take if they have bought the affected product.
