Mars recalls drinks over food poisoning fears
Mars was forced to recall branded bottles of its sports-cap drinks and 750ml milk drink products, after they were found to contain a type of the bacteria known as Bacillus.
The products were deemed a health risk as Bacillus can cause food poisoning.
The products were manufactured by Milchwerke Mittelelbe GMBH with ‘best before’ dates between and including December 19 2014 and April 11 2015.
The affected products were:
- Mars Milk (350ml, 376 ml)
- Starburst Strawberry Drink (350 ml)
- Bounty Drink (350ml)
- Snickers Shake (350ml, 376 ml)
- Skittles Wildberry (376 ml)
- Galaxy Smooth Milk (350ml, 376 ml)
- Milky Way Milk (350 ml)
- Mars Caramel Milk (350ml)
- Skittles Fruits (350, 376ml)
750ml 'fridge pack' bottles:
- Mars Milk (750 ml)
- Galaxy Smooth Milk (750ml)
- Skittles Fruits (750 ml)
Product recall notices were displayed in stores supplied, advising consumers of the recall and what they could do if they bought the affected products.
No other Mars Chocolate Drinks products were known to be affected.
