Cadbury chocolate joke wins Edinburgh Festival award
A gag about Cadbury’s Wispa chocolate bar proved popular with the judges of the funniest joke of the 2013 Edinburgh Festival Fringe – winning the top award.
The resulting story on FoodManufacture.co.uk proved just as popular with readers.
The winning joke – from London-based comic Rob Auton – was: “I heard a rumour that Cadbury is bringing out an oriental chocolate bar. Could be a Chinese Wispa.”
Auton said he was honoured that a joke that tackled the serious issue of the invention of a new chocolate bar could be laughed at by the people of Britain.
But most FoodManufacture.co.uk readers remained unimpressed. More than half (63%) said they had read funnier things on the back of a Cornflake packet.
