The £5.6 million injection will enable Dorset-based DB Foods to enter the “next phase” of its development, benefitting from a “wide-ranging programme” of commercial, operational and financial improvements.
Operating out of Poole, near Bournemouth, the company supplies retail butchers, catering butchers and foodservice operators such as Wagamama and Popeyes, as well as retail customers including Tesco, Aldi and Ocado.
The wholesaler also operates a national distribution centre in Banbury, Oxfordshire, and a regional depot in Cornwall.
The move follows Paramount Retail Group’s acquisition of DB Foods in August last year, which resulted in the creation of a new entity, Paramount Food Group.
The West Yorkshire group says that since acquiring DB Foods, it has helped the meat wholesaler strengthen its financial controls, management accountability and commercial reporting, while increasing its focus on customer and product performance, supplier partnerships and working capital.
Sunny Sharma, director of Paramount Food Group and DB Foods, said: “Paramount acquired a business with significant scale, strong customer and supplier relationships and an established position within the UK food industry.”
“Our focus during the first year has been on strengthening the foundations of DB Foods and giving the business the support it needs to move forward with greater commercial discipline and clarity.”
He added: “The investment made by Paramount demonstrates our long-term commitment to DB Foods. We are now moving into the next phase of the business, with a clear focus on sustainable growth, stronger partnerships with both customers and producers and continued operational improvement.”
DB Foods’ newly filed accounts show that it registered turnover of £202.9 million during the extended reporting period to 31 December 2025.
The accounts also show that net assets increased from approximately £2.95 million to £4.95 million, while net current assets rose from £1.82 million to £3.88 million.
