A health food supplier has withdrawn a pasta product from UK shelves because of concerns over undeclared wheat (gluten).

Dundeis UK Ltd is recalling its Minton & Donello Organic White Orzo because it contains wheat (gluten) that is not declared on the label or in the ingredients list.

This makes the product a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to wheat or gluten, or with coeliac disease.

As part of its recall, the Stoke-based wholesaler is recalling all 500g packs of its Minton & Donello Organic White Orzo, with the batch code 78850 (repeated), and best-before dates of 31 January 2027, 2 May 2027 and 24 May 2027.

In its recall notice, the firm said that it was pulling the product due to a “labelling error and missing allergen labelling.”

It added: “Organic Orzo has been labelled as Orzo White Rice. Additional to this the product contains wheat (gluten), which is missing on the packaging ingredient declaration. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this has caused.”

Customers with an allergy or intolerance to gluten should not consume the product and should instead return it to the store where it was purchased for a full refund, with no receipt required.
