Speaking to FoodManufacture.co.uk in this exclusive video, Reaseheath Food Centre technical manager Katharina Vogt said the industry expected graduates from colleges specialising in food and drinks manufacturing to have practical experience, as well as theoretical knowledge.
Without being able to impart a variety of skills relevant to the sector, food and drinks colleges would be useless and not benefit the sector, she said.
Apply the skills
“We train students to be employable to a stage where they can go into the industry and apply the skills they have been taught,” said Vogt.
It was also essential that large businesses in the food manufacturing sector worked with colleges to ensure the relevant skills were being taught, she added.
