A blanket alert has been placed on a Midlands-based food manufacturer by the Food Standards Agency (FSA), covering all frozen products produced by the firm.

In its alert notice, the FSA is asking businesses to remove all Inarah’s Frozen Food Ltd frozen products from sale, as the Walsall-based manufacturer has been unable to demonstrate that its products have been produced and handled safely.

Consequently, the FSA is also asking individual customers who have purchased the company’s frozen products not to consume them.

The alert covers all frozen products sold under the Inarah’s Frozen Food, Inarah’s Fine Foods and New York Crispy brand labels.

The FSA says frozen products sold under these brand names have not met food hygiene and safety requirements and as such, pose a risk to consumers and may be unsafe to eat.

In a statement, the FSA said: “These brands cover a wide range of frozen products including chicken, beef, fish and vegetarian items, packaged in different size packaging with multiple best before dates and/or batch numbers.

“These products have one of the below company names and addresses on the labels: Inarah Frozen Foods Ltd, Regal Drive, Walsall, WS2 9HQ; Four Seasons Food Group, Unit 7–8 Monarch Works, Elswick Road, Fenton Industrial Estate, Stoke-on-Trent, ST4 2SH; KBH Foods, BD9 4TS.

“All frozen products with either ‘Inarah’s Frozen Foods’, ‘Inarah’s Fine Foods’ or ‘New York Crispy’ with one of the above addresses are included in this alert.”

The FSA is asking any food businesses selling these products in the UK to immediately stop sales, undertake product withdrawals and, where there have been retail sales, to undertake product recalls.

None of these brands’ frozen products should be consumed; they should instead be disposed of safely.

In a clear indication of the severity of the action, the FSA added that it would be asking enforcement authorities to ensure that the withdrawal and recall action is adhered to.
