The two companies have had to issue recalls after separate incidents of potential rodent contamination were detected.
The wide-ranging product recall order covers the English market only, and has impacted 18 items sold under FNM Bakery’s First National Bakery brand and 25 items from Saffron Pastries’ confectionery range.
According to a notice issued by the Food Standards Agency (FSA), all the products recalled may be contaminated by rodents, making them unsafe to eat. As such, both manufacturers are warning affected customers not to consume the recalled items.
Point-of-sale notices have been displayed in retail stores selling the affected products. These notices explain to customers why the products are being recalled and advise them on what to do if they have bought the items.
Customers who have purchased one or more of the affected products should return them to the store from which they were bought for a full refund.

In its recall notice, FNM Bakery said it was recalling the above products because they were “produced in a manufacturing facility where there has been a risk of contamination to food from pest activity”.

In its own recall notice, Saffron Pastries said that it was recalling the listed items due to “physical contamination from pest activity”, adding that “this poses a safety risk to consumers.”
