The acquisition of the Yorkshire-based cake manufacturer comes just 24 months after Regal Food Products Group Plc snapped up premium desserts manufacture, Just Desserts Yorkshire.

Founded in 2004, Love Handmade Cakes (formerly Exquisite Handmade Cakes) offers a range a more than 100 cakes, traybakes, individual cake bars and muffins for food service wholesalers, cafes, distributors and other food service outlets.

Regal Food distributes food and drink to more than 3,000 retail outlets around the UK and exports to over 40 counties. The addition of this company (for an undisclosed sum) is set to boost Regal’s already strong portfolio of bakery brands, including Regal Bakery, Yorkshire Baking Company, Just Desserts Yorkshire, and The Cake Emporium, alongside providing opportunities for expansion and development within food service and its new desserts segment.

“Long-term growth through acquisition is integral to the group and our family of brands, putting us in a position where we can offer our customers a solid mix of quality bakery products for both food service and retail,” commented Younis Chaudhry, CEO of Regal Food Products Group.

“Love Handmade Cakes brings us new opportunities to develop and introduce a new range of products, including individually wrapped flapjacks, wrapped cake bars, muffins and other “countertop” favourites. Servicing customers on all business levels remains a key focus of ours and the acquisition bring us the ability to further reinforce this.”

Love Handmade Cakes will continue to operate as an independent business, while benefiting from the group’s resources and investments.
