Lidl recalls two squid products
Discount retailer Lidl has recalled two varieties of its Sol & Mar Squid in Sunflower Oil, because they contain salt crystals known as struvite, which could present a safety risk.
The recall applied paprika and garlic 80g triple packs of the squid, with a best-before date of December 31 2023.
The salt crystals form during the production process of canned fish. However, they may cause injury and could be mistaken for glass, said Lidl.
Customers who have bought the products were advised not to eat them and instead return then to the store they were bought from for a full refund.
Conservas Selectas de Galicia, the manufacturer of the products, apologised for the incident.
