CONSUMER GOODS FORUM GLOBAL SUMMIT
Jamie's food revolution
Jamie Oliver presented at the show, arguing for healthy, nutritious food for everyone globally, especially children and claiming food education should be considered a human right.
He stressed more people were dying prematurely in the developed world from eating the wrong sort of food than from famine elsewhere.
Oliver said businesses historically had greater power to change the health and habits of consumers than governments, which had been proven inefficient.
He claimed the modern ceo was not just focused on profits, but wanted to create a legacy and make a positive difference.
In his talk, he asked for business leaders to personally commit to improving food health and reducing obesity and contributing to online education, information and nutrition awareness for consumers.
Oliver had a big presence at the show, with a stand serving up healthy smoothie blends of pureed fruit and vegetables. A separate video screen broadcast excerpts from Jamie’s Food Revolution, the series dedicated to improving US consumers’ eating habits.
