Meurig Raymond elected National Farmers Union president
Pembrokeshire mixed farmer Meurig Raymond was elected as the new president of the National Farmers Union (NFU) at the union’s annual general meeting (AGM) on February 26.
Raymond, who has been deputy president since 2006, takes over from Peter Kendall – who stood down after eight years at the helm of the NFU.
He saw off a rival bid from fellow deputy president Adam Quinney.
Judging by the optimism and confidence on display at the AGM, British farming had a “really bright future”, Raymond claimed.
Dairy UK chief executive Dr Judith Bryans welcomed Raymond’s election as “great news” and a “well-deserved win”.
