The London-based firm, which is one of the UK’s largest independent foodservice wholesalers, is now fulfilling TikTok Shop orders through its own multi-temperature delivery network.
JJ Foodservice, which also operates as a national hygiene and chemicals supplier, initially launched a TikTok Shop pilot in July as a means of diversifying its revenue and customer acquisition streams.
The firm claims that, unlike most TikTok Shop sellers, it is able to fulfil orders through its own established nationwide distribution network.
JJ Foodservice said its TikTok Shop storefront is connected to its back-end systems through APIs, helping it capture orders efficiently and fulfil them in-house within the social media platform’s delivery window.
TikTok has also become an increasingly important customer acquisition channel for the business.
Head of communications at JJ Foodservice, Elit Rowland, said: “We wanted to bring our restaurant-quality products to more businesses and homes through TikTok Shop, one of the world’s fastest-growing ecommerce channels.
“TikTok started as a way to showcase our ingredients to new audiences, and it has quickly become a valuable route to new business, reaching everyone from home cooks to restaurateurs.”
She added: “We are proud to be the first UK wholesaler to fulfil TikTok Shop orders through our own multi-temperature delivery network.”
Since joining the platform in 2022, thousands of customers have registered with JJ Foodservice citing TikTok as their referral source, according to the business.
According to the company, TikTok is now JJ Foodservice’s third-largest source of new customer registrations for its wholesale foodservice and hygiene chemicals operations, behind only word of mouth and Google/AI search.
Data published by The Grocer indicates that 44% of UK TikTok users now shop directly through the app, while 50% of users who interact with grocery videos take immediate action, such as trying a recipe or purchasing a product.
