Loughborough-based World of Sweets, one of the UK’s largest confectionery distributors, has recalled its Dubai Style Crunchy Knafeh and Pistachio Milk Chocolate and Alyan Dubai Style Chocolate Truffles because Salmonella has been found in the products.
The action covers the whole of the UK and concerns all 100g packs of Dubai Style Crunchy Knafeh and Pistachio Milk Chocolate with the product code 318591 and any best-before date, as well as all 120g packs of Alyan Dubai Style Chocolate Truffles with the product code 319456 and any best-before date.
Symptoms caused by Salmonella usually include fever, diarrhoea and abdominal cramps.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) advises affected customers experiencing these symptoms to stay away from work, school or nursery until they have been symptom-free for at least 48 hours to avoid passing the infection on to others.
In a customer notice, World of Sweets has asked both individual customers and retailers not to consume or sell the products and instead return them to the store where they were purchased for a full refund.
