The chilled and frozen food specialist has pulled its Snacksters Chicken Fajita Wrap, Snacksters Hoisin Wrap, East Street Deli Sweet Chilli Chicken Wrap and Target a Snack Chicken Fajita Wrap products from shelves.
The recall covers England, Scotland and Wales and is a precautionary measure because of possible contamination with STEC in the listed products.
Summit Foods’ recall covers all individual packs of the products named above with any and all use-by dates up to and including 5 September.
Symptoms caused by STEC can include severe diarrhoea (including bloody diarrhoea), abdominal pain and, occasionally, haemolytic uraemic syndrome (HUS), a serious condition that can lead to kidney failure and can be fatal.
If customers experience these symptoms, they should stay away from work, school or nursery until they have been symptom-free for at least 48 hours to avoid passing the infection to others.
In its customer notice, Summit Foods has asked anyone who purchased the affected products to dispose of them immediately and to provide proof of purchase to sales@summitfoods.co.uk, stating when and where the item was bought, to receive a refund.
