Three senior team members have departed, as the retailer introduces new leadership structure.

Co-op’s Matt Hood is poised to leave the business following almost a decade of service, including three years as group managing director.

His departure comes at the same time as directors Tom Bradley and Nicole Tallant also hand in their resignations.

Bradley spent five years at Co-op, having most recently served as commercial director for strategy and supplier relationships. Meanwhile, Tallant, who is currently commercial director for fresh and chilled, is set to leave after eight years at the business.

Kate Allum, interim group CEO at Co-op, told Food Manufacture the trio are leaving for new roles outside of the food retail sector.

She added: “I’m pleased that all three will remain with us for some months to ensure a well-managed transition, maintain stability and continue to help deliver our strategy.

“Between them, Matt, Nicole and Tom have made a significant contribution to our food business and to the wider Co-op, with their commitment, leadership and expertise having a lasting impact, and they will be greatly missed by colleagues across the business. We wish all three of them the very best for the future.”

As the three get ready to depart, the business has welcomed Imran Rasul into the newly appointed role of chief commercial officer.

“Imran is currently our chief procurement officer and will now bring his considerable expertise to oversee commercial for both GFR and GNFR,” explained Allum.

To reflect the new leadership structure, rather than have a GCL function under one leader, previously Hood, teams will be organised into separate commercial and logistics functions, with Rasul leading commercial and Andy Wilmot, who joined the convenience retailer in April, leading logistics.
