The discounter is accelerating its London expansion with a significant injection of funds into eight new stores.

Aldi has invested £40 million into expanding its presence in London, with eight new stores coming this year.

The move is set to see hundreds of new job openings and targets areas in the capital and Greater London where many communities only have access to higher-priced convenience stores or supermarkets for their weekly shop.

Jonathan Neale, managing director of National Real Estate at Aldi UK, said: “We know household budgets are still under pressure, and too many Londoners don’t have an Aldi within easy reach. These new stores will bring our unbeatable value to more families while creating around 200 new jobs across the capital.”

Aldi has been named the UK’s cheapest supermarket by Which? for five years in a row. The consumer champion organisation has also marked it out as the cheapest supermarket for January, February and March 2026.

New stores are planned for Hanworth (Twickenham Road), Willesden (High Road), Watford, Marble Arch, Hoxton, Orpington West, Epsom, and Stepney Green. Existing Aldi stores in Enfield and Kilburn will also undergo refurbishments this year.

The announcement follows the opening of new Aldi stores across Wimbledon, Fulham Broadway, Shoreditch, Caterham, Uxbridge, Old Kent Road and Kentish Town, alongside an extension in Colindale last year.

This expansion forms part of a wider investment strategy into Britain, with Aldi investing more than £370 million in opening new stores across the nation this year.
