US-based global ingredients specialist Griffith Foods is expanding its European presence with the acquisition of a new factory.

Headquartered in Illinois but operating across more than 20 international markets on six continents, Griffith Foods is now set to expand its Eastern European presence with the acquisition of a Polish facility.

The firm, which is already established in the Polish market, has reached an agreement with LipCo Foods Group to buy the Plant-Tec factory in Zgierz, near the city of Lodz in central Poland.

Griffith Foods says the “strategic investment” will strengthen its regional manufacturing footprint and add capacity and flexibility to help it better serve local customers.

The plant will also reinforce the company’s position in a range of key product categories, including dry seasonings and coatings.

According to the business, the Eastern European sauces, seasonings and spices market is forecast to grow annually by 6.83% until 2030, with total market demand reportedly reaching US$10.49 billion last year.

Filip De Reymaeker, president of Europe at Griffith Foods said: “The new production facility is a key manufacturing asset that strengthens our footprint in Poland and Eastern Europe and supports our ability to serve customers in the region with greater capacity, flexibility and continuity of supply.

“It also reinforces our position in important product categories, including dry seasonings and coatings, where we see strong potential for growth.”

Griffith Foods focuses its operations across three core product categories: seasonings, sauces and dressings, and alternative proteins.

On the UK market, Griffith Foods maintains two facilities: a site in Somercotes, Derbyshire, specialising in dry blending, sauces and dressings; and a site in Wincanton, Somerset, specialising in sauces and butters.

César Lipka, CEO of LipCo Foods Group, said: “Plant-Tec integration by Griffith Foods marks the starting point of a new phase of growth ambitions for both companies.

“LipCo Foods Group continues to focus on its business, which is the development of the multifood segments and innovations. We welcome Griffith Foods’ new production capabilities in Poland, which will help both companies grow the business together and continue delivering differentiated value in dry products innovation.”
