The possibility that the batches of ‘ZOE Daily 30+ 7 Day’ had been contaminated with metal and stones meant that they were unsafe to eat.
As a result, 112.5g packs with a batch code of 24266A, 24267A or 24270A and a best before date of 30 September 2025 have been recalled by Waitrose.
Zoe is a nutrition brand that produces a range of plant-based supplements that can be included in recipes.
Meanwhile, Waitrose has issued notices which are being displayed in its stores that explain why the recall has taken place.
The notices advise anyone that has bought the product not to eat it and to instead contact their local Waitrose branch for a full refund.
“We apologise that it has been necessary to recall this product and for the inconvenience caused,” Waitrose said.
This is the second product recalled by Waitrose in the past week, after it issued a reminder to consumers about an own brand Chinese takeaway product with a label that did not specify that it contained molluscs.
The recall was issued again on 4 December, the last use by date quoted, because the product is suitable for freezing and therefore there may be products from the recall period still being kept in people’s freezers that need to be recalled.
In other Waitrose news, the retailer opened its first new store in six years last month with the launch of a Little Waitrose branch in south west London.
The supermarket now operates nearly 50 smaller format stores and has plans to open more in 2025.
