The wealthiest family is Weston
The Weston family – Guy, George and Galen Jr – were the wealthiest family to have a stake in the food and drink this year, placing seventh on the Sunday Times Rich List – down from fourth.
The family was estimated to be worth £10.5bn, dropping £500M since last year’s list.
Their British wealth stems from its 20.8% stake in Wittington Investments – which owns 54.5% of food and ingredients producer Associated British Foods (ABF) – worth £4.3bn.
However, shares in the company have fallen recently, reducing the value of their stake in the company by £900M since last year.
ABF’s brands include: Kingsmill, Allinsons, Twinings, Jordans and Dorset Cereals, Pataks Blue Dragon and fashion retailer Primark.
