Irn-Bru manufacturer AG Barr has recalled one of its widely sold fruit-based soft drinks over an undeclared ingredient.

The Scottish firm has withdrawn its Rubicon Yuzu & Pink Grapefruit Cartons because they may contain undeclared sulphites, which are not mentioned on the label.

The recall action covers all one litre packs of the product with the batch codes 6160, 6198, 6219 and 6257, and the best before dates of June 2027, July 2027, August 2027 and September 2027.

These batches have been pulled from sale because they may contain sulphites, making them a possible health risk for anyone with a sensitivity to sulphur dioxide and/or sulphites.

In a recall notice, a spokesperson for AG Barr said the company was initiating a “precautionary recall” of the specific batches of Rubicon Yuzu & Pink Grapefruit Cartons due to the “potential presence” of undeclared sulphites.

It clarified that no other batches of the beverage, or any other Rubicon or AG Barr products, were affected by the recall.

Affected customers should not consume the product but should instead return it to the store where it was bought for a full refund.
