Based in Brecon, Powys, the company has invested £60,000 in a new 300-litre brat pan.
The new equipment will give the manufacturer greater versatility and enable it to service smaller batch orders of between 50kg and 150kg.
Beacon Foods will use the equipment to produce its widely sold compotes, chutneys, relishes, candied zests and boiled products.
“As a business, we like to be flexible when servicing customer orders of all sizes,” explained Jas Singh, operations director at Beacon Foods.
“We have larger kettles for customers ordering two tonnes of product, but the brat pan is ideal for smaller, 50 to 150 kilo orders.”
The firm said it has invested more than £6 million in the last three years to double the size of its manufacturing and storage facilities.
As part of its wider investment programme, the ingredients producer also added two new 26-tonne refrigerated lorries to its fleet earlier this month, helping it to provide a more efficient daily delivery service across mainland UK.
Tech Trucks UK, based in Eardisley near Hereford, supplied the two MAN TGX 26.520 tractor units, while The Reefer Trailer Centre, Stoke-on-Trent, supplied two new Chereau 13.6-metre dual-compartment trailers with Carrier refrigeration.
Simon Morgan, supply chain manager at Beacon Foods, added: “We now make 95% of the daily deliveries with our own fleet of vehicles and travel to most parts of Wales, England and Scotland, which is all part of the personal customer service provided by the company.”
“We are expanding our fleet to keep up with demand for Beacon Foods products from our ever-growing customer base. The new lorries add extra capacity, reliability and flexibility.”
The company’s customers include food manufacturers, foodservice operators, coffee shops, fast-food chains, and the travel and hospitality sectors.
Established in 1993, Beacon Foods is one of the UK’s leading specialist producers of garlic, ginger and chilli purées, roasted and chargrilled vegetables, fruit ranges, relishes, chutneys, sauces, soups, confit products and fruit compotes.
