Jackson has joined the high-profile senior team for its new £15m Sheffield manufacturing site in Sheffield, which will help the company expand its product offering.
Jackson, who joins as Head of New Product Development, has worked for some of the country’s biggest bakeries, developing products such as the Jaffa mini roll, Mars branded cake bars and caramel shortcakes for Thorntons.
The company said she will work closely with Mr Whippy founder and CEO Michael Corrado Jackson, on “invention” and “fun ingredients” for the company.
The company is expected to launch its new doughnut range in September and already has a number of retailers in supply deals.
Mr Whippy said it expects to produce more than 104m doughnuts annually at the new premises.
The manufacturing site allows end-to-end automation and direct distribution, enabling it to manufacture, pack and dispatch under one roof cutting time from “oven to aisle”.
“We are building a team of vital, elite staff who will head up not just another production site, but a symbol of what happens when innovation, category expansion, persistence and skills come together. Modernised production can unlock growth in a cost-conscious, quality-driven retail market. The facility will disrupt the market and set new standards for quality,” Jackson said.
“Investment in automation and layout, to sourcing world class skills and equipment represent key components of our strategy to offer quality, maintain product consistency and operational efficiency.”
The 10-strong senior team also includes Joe Sealey as Chief Revenue Officer; Phil Kitchen and Kit Rogan as Sales; Cheryl Fletcher as Head of Group Operations; Tom Hunt as Finance Director; Paul Macnish as Site General Manager; Bilal Ahmad as Head of Technical; Lucy Brooke as Head of Engineering and Steven Page as Head of IT.The Head Baker is Jason Roome who is joined by Site Operations and Bakery Assistant Arfan Ijaz.
The fit out for specialist food production is due to complete this summer, eventually creating more than 50 new jobs on-site, the company has revealed.
