The London-based dessert producer has recalled its Double Sea Salted Caramel Frozen Dessert because the product may contain hazelnuts (nuts) and soya lecithin (soya), which are not declared on the label.
The recall covers all 2 x 85g packs of the dessert with the lot number 126135 and a best before date of 30 June 2027.
This action concerns England only. The product has been withdrawn because it may contain the allergens hazelnuts and soya, which are not declared on the label.
As a result, consumption of Gü’s Double Sea Salted Caramel Frozen Dessert could pose a potential risk to anyone with a nut or soya allergy.
In its recall notice, the firm has advised customers who have a hazelnut, nut or soya allergy not to consume the product, but instead to return it to their nearest store for a full refund, with no receipt required.
In a statement, Gü clarified that the issue is limited to a “very small number of products (believed to be less than ten units)”, but that the recall was being actioned as part of its commitment to consumer safety.
Gü added: “We have taken proactive steps to further mitigate the issue, including strengthened allergen and packing controls within production.
“We believe the majority of consumers who purchased the affected products will already have been contacted or notified.”
