Following huge success on TikTok, UK-based bakery DoughGirl is scaling production and launching its own e-commerce site.

The gourmet bakery known for its fresh cookies and deep-filled cookie pies has embarked on its next stage of growth just months after its launch earlier this year.

The Skegness business, founded by husband-and-wife Emma and Stuart Colclough – the entrepreneurial duo also behind the Chuckling Cheese Company – went viral shortly after its launch in January 2025.

With demand increasing, the Colclough’s made the strategic decision to expand DoughGirl’s production capabilities, transforming their existing warehouse into a dedicated bakery last month.

The investment marked a major milestone for the brand, enabling DoughGirl to scale production while maintaining its quality and freshness.

Currently available to buy via TikTok shop and the MetroCentre in Lincolnshire, the company is now set to take the next step, launching an ecommerce website www.doughgirl.co.uk on 25 April 2025 which will enable customers across the UK to purchase DoughGirl from a third platform.

The website will feature their bestselling deluxe cookies, signature cookie pies, and new flavours, along with exclusive online-only offers and updates.

With the backing of strategic investment, the business is set to continue expanding its product range, scaling production, and expanding its reach nationwide; with the aim of becoming the UK’s go-to brand for luxury, handcrafted cookies and cookie pies.

The duo’s other business, which offers a range of snacks and sweet treats alongside cheese barrels and cheese truckles, was launched in 2012.

In 2016, they opened a Chuckling Cheese Shop in the Skegness Hildreds Centre, and in 2018, added another two stores to the fold – one in the Doncaster Frenchgate Shopping Centre and one in the Middlesbrough Hill Street Shopping Centre.

In 2020, they grew the business further with two more cheese shops – one in the Merry Hill Shopping Centre in Brierley Hill near Birmingham and one in the Metrocentre Shopping Centre in Gateshead near Newcastle.

Its P&L account for the period ending 28 February 2024 shows a turnover of £5.7 million – up from £4.3 million in 2023, with a gross profit of 2.7 million, up from 2.3 million in 2023.
