Krispy Kreme celebrates Barbie’s 65th birthday

Krispy Kreme are celebrating the 65th anniversary of Barbie with a collection of limited-edition doughnuts featuring designs and flavours inspired by the world famous fashion doll.

The doughnut maker has released four new flavours the commemorate the event – Barbie Pink Doughnut, Barbie Berries ‘n Kreme Doughnut, Barbie Sweet 65 Doughnut and Malibu Dream Party Doughnut.

Dave Skena, global chief brand officer for Krispy Kreme, said: “We’re excited to celebrate the Barbie brand’s 65th birthday with a collaboration that’s full of fun and flavour. We’re bringing Barbie’s iconic fashions to life through delicious doughnuts that are sure to thrill Barbie and Krispy Kreme fans alike.”

Consumers can also snap up a free pair of Barbie inspired glasses when they but a Barbie 65th Anniversary Dozen on 14-15 September 2024 for the reduced price of £19.59 to celebrate the birthyear of the brand – 1959.

The ‘ultimate’ gluten-free brownie

Genius Foods has launched its ‘ultimate’ gluten-free brownie, now available in supermarket stores nationwide.

Triple Chocolate Fudgy Brownies are now available in Sainsbury’s stores across the country, boasting a ‘rich, moist texture’ and a ‘luxurious’ dark chocolate drizzle. Despite coming in at less that 200 calories, the brownies are loaded with real white and milk chocolate chunks. 

The Triple Chocolate Fudgy Brownies join a growing lineup of baked goods from the manufacturers, including Multi Seeded Farmhouse Bread, Fruity Teacakes and Brioche Loaf.

Genius Foods head of marketing Lauren Harber said: “This is a game changer, not just for people like me who live with coeliac disease, but for the many millions of Brits who suffer from symptoms from bloating to brain fog when they eat gluten.

Higgidy warms up winter with Spanish flavours

Higgidy is bringing a touch of Spanish heat to UK shores this Autumn with launch of a new quiche flavour inspired by summers overseas.

The Smoky Chorizo and Slow Roasted Red Pepper Quiche with Spicy ‘Nduja is encased in short crust pastry and hand topped with a spicy chorizo and paprika crumb for an ‘extra punch of flavour’.

Designed to serve four people, the quiche takes only 18 minutes to cook and has been positioned as an easy mid-week meal – ideal for more time-strapped consumers. A recipe for potato wedges is also included on the side of the box to help further enhance meal times.

Higgidy’s Smoky Chorizo and Slow Roasted Red Pepper Quiche is available at Waitrose from 18th September and from Sainsbury’s, Tesco, Ocado and Booths later in the month, 400g, RRP £4.60.

Tango Cherry ditches the sugar for relaunch

Tango Cherry returns to stores shelves next month, five years after it was discontinued.

Owner Britvic has reformulated the drink to be free-from sugar joining its other sugar-free Tango flavours Apple, Orange and Mango. The new cherry flavour will join the core range of Tango flavours

Britvic retail commercial director in Great Britain Ben Parker said there had been many requests for the flavour’s return from consumers on social media.

“There really was no better time to bring it back and excite the category with yet another bold, popular flavour,” he added. “We know how important it is to keep innovating to keep shoppers interested and excited by the category and we are confident this one is going to be a hit in-store.

“We’ve ensured Tango Cherry is now also sugar free, with no compromise on its iconic flavour, enabling us to support retailers in offering shoppers soft drinks that lead with taste, just without the sugar. What’s more, the new flavour is available in a range of formats, to cater to take-home occasions as well as on-the-go moments, to ensure retailers can maximise their soft drinks sale potential with Tango.”

Tango Cherry will be available to the grocery, convenience and wholesale channels from October. The NPD will be available in a 330ml can, 500ml plain bottle, 500ml PMP bottle, 2L bottle and multipacks of 8, 18 and 24 cans.

Nomo promises tropical paradise in a chocolate bar

Vegan and free-from chocolate maker Nomo has expand its range with the launch of the Coconut Chocolate Bar.

The new premium chocolate bar contains Rainforest Alliance Certified cocoa and is made up of desiccated coconut while still being free from dairy, egg, gluten and nuts.

Tara Stevens, Nomo senior brand manager, said: “This product is more than just our newest flavour – it’s a step forward in our mission to ensure that no one misses out on the joy of chocolate, no matter their dietary restrictions. We can’t wait for our customers to experience this little taste of paradise.”

The Nimo Coconut Chocolate Bar is now available at Sainsbury’s stores now and will be available at Asda stores by the end of the month.
