The food firm planned to use the funds to accelerate growth within the UK market with a focus on brand awareness, new product development and expanding the team.
FieldGoods co-founder Elliot Day said: “It's been a wild ride and we’re incredibly proud of how the business has grown. This fundraise gives us the oomph to scale up production, develop new products and ramp up our marketing. Our aim is to disrupt the ready meal category and we've only just begun.”
FieldGoods’ journey
Founded by Elliot and Sam Day in 2021 after three years on the London dining scene, FieldGoods was the first ever ready meal to be stocked by Fortnum & Mason.
Its meals can be found in Whole Foods, Partridges London, Daylesford Organic and Darts Farm, plus more than 140 independent retailers. They can also be ordered online for next day delivery through the company’s website.
Brother and co-founder Sam Day added: “There’s a massive consumer appetite for convenience foods that deliver on taste, quality and sustainability. With our investment round complete, we are in a great position to scale up our grocery presence across the UK – watch this space.”
Crowdfunding success
In other crowdfunding news, Non-alcoholic drinks brand L.A Brewery launched a crowdfunding campaign in February with the goal of raising between £500k and £1m.
The B Corp certified brewer ultimately raised more than £700k, which it planned to use on improving its digital marketing, increasing the capacity at its brewery in Suffolk and launching new products.
Meanwhile, UK plant-based manufacturer Adamo Foods has just closed a $2.5m (£2m) seed round, co-led by Future Planet Capital and Joyful Ventures.
The announcement comes just two months after Adamo raised £1.5m, courtesy of pre-seed investment from SFC Capital and grants from Innovate UK under the ‘Better Food for All’ and ‘Novel Low Emission Food Production Systems’ competitions.
