ADM seeks quality, safety, health and environment (QSHE) coordinator

The ingredients company is looking for a QSHE coordinator to provide support across the Purfleet site.

A global human and animal nutrition company, ADM is blazing new trails in health and well-being, as its scientists develop groundbreaking products to support healthier living.

Based in Essex, the successful candidate will be responsible for managing the energy management system, ensuring compliance to ISO50001 standard.

Working alongside the technical manager and quality systems manager to support and improve environmental, quality, food/feed safety systems, and programmes (i.e. Kosher, Halal, RSPO and others).

You will also be charged with managing the GMP inspection programme, actively leading inspections and engaging with operations and engineering team members to improve food safety culture.

ADM is asking for those who apply to have a degree or equivalent in a science-based subject and excellent organisation and communication skills.

Surya Foods seeks quality manager

Established in the 1980's, Surya, part of Flying Trade Group, is a rapidly expanding family-owned business with a £168m annual turnover and more than 1,400-strong employee base.

With its flagship Laila brand, 17 quality grains, 200k tones milling capacity and BRC AA grade facility, it is major global foods supplier in the Asian, European and Afro-Caribbean sectors.

The company is expanding its technical team and looking for an experience food quality manager to join its base in Essex.

Reporting to the site group head of technical, you will oversee and manage all quality compliance within a busy food manufacturing site in Harwich, Essex. Candidates will need to be able to commute and/or relocate to its 11-acre site.

Key responsibilities include leading and coordinating BRC audits, ensuring compliance with HACCP Level 3 standards and overseeing quality assurance processes from raw materials to final products.

Previous experience in a food management role is required, alongside knowledge of food safety regulations, including HACCP principles.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent leadership and communication skills and demonstrate an ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Warburtons seeks operational technology engineer

This role has been newly created role to support the continued growth and investment at the bakery producer.

Warburtons has been baking bread since 1876 and remains a family-run business, currently operating under the fifth generation. 

The bakery brand supplies more than 18,000 retail customers from 11 bakeries and 16 depots, producing a range of over 70 products, including gluten and wheat free.

The new recruit will be working alongside the business’ head of project engineering, as part of its national project engineering team. They will develop and lead the engineering technology & control strategy from bakery to boardroom.

This is a permanent role which will require flexibility around traveling, with the candidate able to travel throughout the Warburtons’ bakery network. This also means that the company can take applications throughout the North West, Cumbria, Yorkshire and the Midlands.

The new member of the team will need to be an expert in control systems, MES and automation across multiple sites and tasked with building a suitable national strategy.

You’ll already have experience of working with senior leadership teams with the ability to manage and motivate teams, directly, indirectly and remotely, using your experience and knowledge to guide and influence. You will also have experience in supplier relationship management, successfully using these relationships to keep up to date with changing technologies.

The successful recruit will also have an engineering qualification such as HND, HNC, BEng or equivalent, with experience of working in a manufacturing environment.

Little Moons seeks compliance and regulatory technologist

The mochi ice cream business is looking to recruit a compliance technologist to join its technical team.

This role will be responsible for the day-to-day compliance of the business and supporting the delivery of innovation into operations.

Little Moons has rapidly established mochi and snacking ice cream across Europe. In FY22, it generated more than £50m in revenue, and in FY23 it’s targeting +50% YoY growth. 

Based on experience in the USA, mochi ice cream is likely to make up 2-3% of the total ice cream category within 1-2 years.

This is a permanent position (40 hours a week, Monday to Friday) that can be based at either New Moon’s Kettering or Farringdon site, with some travel to the other facility required.

Key responsibilities include gathering and delivering accurate and up to date food packaging data to fulfil business commitments and legal obligations; alongside managing regulatory and export queries and working with finance to ensure correct loading of BOMs, among other tasks.

Essential to the role is a minimum of five years’ experience in a food technologist role, ideally for a BRC certified company. The successful candidate will also be a graduate in food science or a related technology field, and have knowledge of food labelling regulations in the UK and EU. Having experience of other countries will be advantageous.

They will also possess experience of supplier and raw material approval, an understanding of food safety and HACCP in the factory, and experience using online specification systems.

Dairygold Food Ingredients seeks technical manager

Based in Swillington, Leeds, Dairygold Food Ingredients is seeking a technical manager to join its team on a permanent contract (39 hours a week, Monday to Friday).

Dairygold is Ireland’s largest farmer-owned co-operative. Its unique location, known as the ‘Golden Vale’, is home to nutrient rich pasture lands that stretch across the valleys of Munster, where its farmer shareholders produce naturally sourced raw materials.

Today, the business is global player that supplier of premium cheese and dairy ingredients, processing 1.48bn litres of milk a year, with an annual turnover of €1.65bn.

The Leeds site manufactures functional soft and liquid cheese, and its customer base and range of end product applications is growing rapidly. 

The new technical manager will lead the technical function, facilitating key business decisions at site level.

Among the responsibilities, the candidate will be charged with ensuring a documented quality management system is in place which reflects the site’s commitment to food safety, legality and quality, and meets both customer and BRC standards.

They will also liaise with regulatory bodies and other outside organisations as needed, while overseeing the HACCP team and documented HACCP system.

The successful candidate will be educated to a degree level or equivalent in a relevant field, such as food science, microbiology or food tech; and will have at least three years of experience in technical management within food.

An understanding of dairy science would be ideal with an appreciation of the effects of pasteurisation, homogenisation, incubation & cooling processes on raw materials to assist with the consistent delivery of a first class finished product.
