Zorba Delicacies recalls 17 houmous products from major retailers
Zorba Delicacies is recalling 17 products, which include Sainsbury’s own range, Nando's houmous with Peri-Peri drizzle, Morrisons’ Avocado Houmous, Asda’s Carrot Sticks & Houmous and Lidl’s Meadow Fresh Houmous Selection, due to the potential threat.
Point-of-sale notices will be displayed in all retail stores that are selling these products, according to the Food Standards Agency (FSA).
These notices will explain to customers why the products are being recalled and tell them what to do if they have bought the product.
“If you have bought any of the above products do not eat them. Instead, return them to the store from where they were bought for a full refund,” the FSA said.
Zorba Delicacies has yet to comment on the announcement.
However, Lidl has warned any customers that have already bought the product to return it to stores.
“The supplier Zorba Foods is recalling the above-mentioned product due to the potential presence of Salmonella. Salmonella can trigger severe gastrointestinal symptoms,” a spokesman said.
“If you have bought the above product with the use-by date of 6 November, we advise you not to eat it. Instead, return it to a Lidl GB store for a full refund, with or without a receipt.
“No other use-by dates or Meadow Fresh products in Lidl GB stores are affected by this recall. Lidl GB wishes to apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
