Birmingham-based Premium Halal Meat & Poultry has recalled some of its Direct Poultry Products because they have been produced without approval.

According to the Food Standards Agency (FSA), being produced without approval meant it was not known what production and hygiene procedures have taken place at the premises.

The company has also issued a point-of-sale notice to its customers. However, no other Premium Halal Meat & Poultry products are known to be affected.

All batches of the following products are being recalled: fresh chicken breast; fresh chicken legs; fresh chicken wings; fresh chicken thighs, with or without bone; fresh chicken niblets, fresh chicken tikka, chicken carcase and chicken skin.

In November, Walkers was forced to recall some of its snacking range due to incorrect allergen labels while SlimFast recalled one of its products due to the presence of milk, which was not included on its ingredients list.

Another Birmingham meat plant was fined £43,000 over hygiene offences, following hot on the heels of the draft of the cutting plant review by the FSA and Food Standards Scotland.
