McMahon said the wins – Ambient Manufacturing Company of the Year and Best Use of Food Ingredients – would give its distributors worldwide “great faith in the quality of our product”.
“It reinforces for us that what we are doing is putting the best of British full-cream milk into infant formula and we are up against the biggest companies in the world. I think it’s a great day for British food,” he added.
Boost staff morale
The two wins at the FMEAs would also boost staff morale at Kendal Nutricare, said McMahon.
McMahon picked up the two awards at the 1930s-themed ceremony on November 1 at the Hilton Park Lane, London.
Kendal was awarded Ambient Manufacturing Company of the Year after wowing judges by targeting a specific part of the market that had been overlooked by others.
One judge remarked: “They really understood their market and went after it. In the process, the new owner returned a loss-making business to profit and created much-needed jobs.”
Stood out
The manufacturer stood out in the Best New Use of Food Ingredients Category for its decision to use full-cream dairy in its infant formulas, rather than the more commonly used skimmed dairy in products.
