Conveyor system for handling light powders

A new Z-Conveyor has been introduced by Dutch company Poeth, which is claimed to minimise the amount of light powders left behind in transport systems and optimise production capacity.

The new conveyor is reported to have low energy consumption and is also explosion safe, eliminating the need for costly investment in ATEX protection systems.

The conveyor was specially developed for the hygienic transport of light, fine powders in the vertical, diagonal or horizontal direction. The transport system consists of plastic flights that move forward on a chain within an enclosed trough and at the unloading point ‘fall’ gently out.

It is, therefore, suitable for use with light, fine products that are difficult to empty completely. The flights are hermetically sealed with the transport shaft and base and this minimises the amount of product remaining behind or falling back. This means that the Z-Conveyor is suitable for the complete emptying of transport systems without the risk of carry-over or contamination.
