Greencore appoints new non-executive director

Greencore has appointed former Peacock Foods ceo Thomas Sampson as a non-executive director.

The convenience foods manufacturer said Sampson brought a “wealth of experience and knowledge” to the company, after working in the US food sector for 30 years. He spent 28 years with Kraft Foods, before his three-year spell at Peacock Foods to 2016 – when it was acquired by Greencore.

Sampson currently serves as Chicago Children’s Advocacy Center president, and is on the board of directors for the Community Coffee Company.

‘US operating knowledge’

Greencore chairman Gary Kennedy said: “We are delighted to welcome Tom to the board. Tom brings a wealth of insight and relationships to the group along with a deep US operating knowledge which will be invaluable as we enter the next phase of the group’s development.

The manufacturer reported a 9.1% rise in like-for-like sales to £417M, this week (January 31). It said that it expected rising raw material, packaging and labour costs this year, but was confident of shrugging off those impacts.

Meanwhile, meat producer Moy Park, seafood firm Young’s and supermarket Tesco all appeared in January’s People on the move in food and drink photogallery.
