That was the view of partner at law firm DWF Dominic Watkins, who was speaking exclusively to FoodManufacture.co.uk’s cameras following the BLF last month.
“[The Business Leaders’ Forum] was a lot more outward-looking than last year,” he said.
“There was a positive tone and the room felt it was going to be a good year for the food industry. That was notwithstanding some of the obvious challenges at a political level surrounding sugar and Brexit that could potentially put a spanner in the works.”
‘Once in a lifetime’’
Food and drink business leaders were faced with a “once in a lifetime” decision on whether or not the UK should leave the EU, Watkins added.

The annual Business Leaders Forum was held at the office of main sponsor law firm DWF on January 20th. The other sponsors were ALcontrol and insurance firm RSA.
