Middleby relaunches Thurne brand after purchase

The original Thurne brand has been relaunched following the acquisition of Marel's high-speed slicing range by Middleby Corporation.

Norwich-based Thurne-Middleby is renowned for its slicing kit for bacon, cooked meats and cheese built up over many years under the Thurne, AEW Delford and Marel brands. Since its formation in 1969, it has adopted many new technologies, including vision, scanning and computer techniques, in a range of automated high-speed slicing lines.

The latest product on the market is the IBS 4600 Vision, a four-lane, four-blade slicer with four dedicated vision systems designed for processing pre-cooked bacon, offering high consistency, volumes, yields and good hygiene.

Vision and scanning technology is also key to the success of the other bacon slicing systems in the Thurne portfolio, which provide good weight accuracy and slice consistency in retail and foodservice applications.

Thurne also offers systems for cooked and cured meat use, as well as cheese. The Polyslicer 1000 can be supplied with an interleaver, variety conveyor or slacker, all of which are available as retrofits to meet customers' changing requirements.

The company has also retained its fresh meat slicers, I-Cut 1000 and l-Cut Profile, which create shingled presentations ready for loading into packs.
