Poultry processor Bernard Matthews has appointed Rob Burnett as its new ceo, effective June 30 2014.

Burnett joins from the Hain Daniels Group, where he was boss of its S Daniels and Hain Daniels businesses during his 12 years with the firm.

During his time with the business he garnered “considerable brand experience” with New Covent Garden Soup, Johnson’s Juice, Linda McCartney and Hartleys, Bernard Matthews claimed.

Before this, he worked in a number of sales and general management roles at food manufacturer Albert Fisher, including md for its seafood division and group commercial director.

‘Reinvigorate’

Burnett said: “I am excited at joining a big brand with the reach of Bernard Matthews and the potential to reinvigorate it to support our valuable customers.”

Bernard Mattews executive chairman, David Joll, said his commercial and production experience would be ideal for the business.

“We are delighted to have Burnett joining us to continue and accelerate the recovery of our business which is well underway,” he added.
