Low energy tray sealers can cut costs by 90%

Electric flexible tray sealers designed to seal film, foil or board lids to plastic, foil or board trays, will be shown by Packaging Automation (PA). Speeds ranging from 15 to 150 packs a minute mean that equipment can cater for the needs of the start-up to the multi-national manufacturer,

The machines have low energy requirements due to the removal of pneumatic components, which can reduce running costs by 90%, claims PA. The seal force is said to provide improved seal quality compared with that achieved with a pneumatic seal cylinder.

A new electric machine is being launched at the show, which offers 150 packs a minute single lane. It features a novel technology that will be unveiled at the show.

PA will also demonstrate its vacuum skin packing capabilities. This format is gaining popularity in the meat, poultry and fish sectors. The skin system of sealing offers high visibility vacuum packs on a pre-formed tray, giving improved shelf-life, better product quality and packaging reduction by using a shallow tray.
