Line up the first mini probiotic shots

Probiotic shots hit the retailers' shelves
Chr Hansen and partner Biofarma have launched a probiotic shot in a user-friendly mini-bottle using the firm's Drycap technology.

The first off-the-shelf shot contains Chr Hansens flagship probiotic strain BB-12, or: “the world’s best-documented Bifidobacterium”, containing fibre in the form of fructooligosaccharides. The product addresses gastrointestinal irregularities.

“We are really looking forward to showcasing this healthy, lemon-flavoured shot that combines two ingredients that both have a long history of use, high consumer awareness and acceptance,” says Chr Hansen’s Lasse Nagell, sales and marketing vice president, Health & Nutrition.

The combination probiotic and fibre comes in a 10ml liquid shot format, a convenient dosage for the health-conscious consumer who prefers to drink shots rather than swallow capsules or tablets. The probiotics are stored in an alu-blister integrated into the mini-bottle cap: the Drycap, a patented technology made by Chr Hansen's partner Biofarma. Drycap enables live probiotics in a dry environment, thereby preserving their documented health benefits.

“The consumer simply dispenses the probiotics into the liquid, shakes the bottle to disperse the probiotics, and drinks the shot: a quick and tasty way to get your probiotics on the go,” Nagell says.
