Food industry fume extraction

Flextraction says its self-supporting hood positioning devices (HPDs) are ideal for food ingredient tipping and drum filling in food processing environments where dust and fumes are emitted.

The manufacturer of local exhaust ventilation products has designed HPDs to address the deficiencies of conventional flexible extraction arms, in line with Health and Safety Executive guidance.

The HPDs incorporate new mounting brackets, hoods and hoses to capture and extract industrial dusts and fumes, including hazardous and corrosive fumes at the point of source.

There are no mechanics inside the flexible arms. This optimises flow properties, eliminates the risk of dust being collected in crevices and enables the wash-through of the equipment.

Being ATEX compliant means painted products are coated with an anti-static paint. This means they can be used in hazardous zones, which are based on the frequency and duration of the occurrence of an explosive atmosphere in which air has the potential to be mixed with dangerous substances in the form of gas, vapour, mist or combustible dust.
