A dairy in Cornwall is about to undertake a major expansion, which will mean that it can start to produce soft cheese and expand its range of clotted creams.
The expansion programme at Trewithen Dairy will see an investment in its processing area, improved infrastructure and purpose-built new offices and staff facilities. It will take place over four years and will create around 40 new jobs.
There will also be major investment in equipment and staff training aimed at further improving the quality of products and service. The news comes after the dairy received a £5.7M grant from the Rural Development Programme for England.
“We are tremendously excited to have been awarded such a big grant, which will facilitate major investment resulting in win-win all round - for Trewithen Dairy, for Cornish farmers, for all our customers and for the Cornish economy,” said md of the dairy Bill Clarke.
The dairy’s existing products also include milk, Cornish clotted and liquid creams, butter, yogurt and crème fraiche.
