Ardo UK, frozen fruit and vegetable processor, is moving into a new £15M processing plant at Charing, near Ashford, Kent.
The firm was reluctant to reveal precise details of the move until after its official opening on March 26, 2010. However, it is thought the new site would replace processing facilities at its Headcorn site, also based in Kent.
Ardo processes and packages all kinds of fruit and vegetables including raspberries, peas, cranberries, soya beans and chickpeas. In January it extended its 'Les Tapas' line to include pre-baked cauliflower and cheese burgers, vegetable burgers, breaded vegetables and broccoli.
It supplies supermarket own-label and this year will be celebrating its 40th anniversary, said a spokeswoman.
Local press reported over a year a go that planning permission for the new facility was granted in mid-2008. Since then, the firm has continued to prepare the site for the opening next month.
